If I Were a Fly

from Look Up by Natalie Inga

/

about

This is the oldest song on the album. It wrote itself. It was summer, and I guess I was coming to terms with the fact that there are things in life I can't change. Oh, and there must have been a fly in my bedroom.

lyrics

If I were a fly I’d spy on you
See all the things that you really do
I’d hear all the words you speak at night
I’d know who you are when there’s no one in sight

And I’d whisper in your ear
Just a small voice that you’d hear
But which words would I say?
I can’t change you anyway

Way-oh!

If I were a fly I’d follow you
Stick to your side like super glue
I’d buzz in your ear til you crawl into bed
Then it’d be you who can’t get me out of your head

But I can’t change your mind
Fly or humankind
So I’ll just pass on by
No one loves a fly

Way-oh!
