about
Letting go is an act of faith.
I wrote this on a summer day in 2010, down by the river in Drumheller. It’s for everyone, but was written for the dear women in my life who find themselves at the precipice, afraid to let go.
Love makes us hold onto fire, even as it burns us. It draws us like a magnet to what we know. In these situations, we must run away, turn away, leap, FLY.
lyrics
Letting go, though we don’t know when the light will come
Letting go, though it’s slow, yes the light will come
The door of the cage is open now, it’s only a matter of time
Til we find our wings and fly
We are in a Holy embrace no more fists, just an open palm, ah
Something draws us back, we’re afraid to fly, we know this place so well
No, no, no
Run outside, lock the door, smash the windows, burn the house, run away, run away, run away…
Letting go, though we don’t know when the light will come
Letting go, so we can grow, yes the light will come
Book the ticket, take the flight, close your eyes and make a leap, turn away, turn away, run away, run away…
Letting go, though we don’t know when the light will come
Letting go, though it’s slow, yes the light will come
